The purpose of the DMLSS-FM roadmap is to chart a viable path forward to address a failed CMMS and CAFM solution set for the MHS Facilities Operations. Operations and Maintenance are a critical component of Facility Life Cycle Management (FLCM). Providing the right tools to the FM community is a required element of success. A successful CMMS/CAFM system assists the local FM in achieving their daily mission and supports corporate awareness and information exchange of the facility asset to support fact based decisions. As demonstrated in the user feedback, the current system does not assist the FM community. DMLSS-FM, in its current state, actually hinders the FM community. This is a problem that is common across much of the federal facilities management world. While the roadmap focuses on a solution set to address the MHS Facilities needs, the proposed solutions is applicable and scalable to the broader federal facilities community. There is hope and there is a plan!
